Seasonal flowers in baskets to brighten up Lingfield

You may have noticed that more seasonal flowers have recently arrived in baskets and planters, to brighten up the village. They are funded by a residual EU grant to help High Streets and town centres recover from the pandemic with flowers etc.

Although the contractor originally selected was unable to fulfil their commitments, we have been supported by Southon Nurseries of Dormansland and Amethyst Horticulture, of Sittingbourne, who both stepped forward to deliver extra superb displays to complement those provided annually by the parish council. This builds on the extensive and ongoing work to clean signs and bollards already undertaken by our amazing volunteer force.

Our thanks go to Yvonne Morland of Tandridge District Council who alerted us to the pot of money and negotiated the contract, and to Southon and Amethyst for their swift and professional response. Please enjoy the flowers and remember to put 4th December in your diary, when we will close the High Street to traffic and have a great pre-Christmas celebration.

Don’t forget to support your local shops and businesses, and always observe the Covid safety precautions – stay safe!
